● Joal Rose L. · Developer, Writer & Information Junkie
I take in the world—from code to philosophy—and build from there.
My day job is making stubborn enterprise systems cooperate as a Salesforce Principal Consultant. But at my core, I'm a builder fueled by an endless curiosity for both technology and the humanities. I explore the intersection of tech, ethics, and productivity at HelloJoal, sharing how I try to make sense of the world as a self-taught dev with a scattered mind.

01 · why
The builder's mindset
Being a developer isn't just about writing syntax; it's about modeling reality. The more I understand about how humans think, organize, and find meaning, the better systems I can design.
01
Philosophy gives me the framework
Understanding logic, ethics, and human nature helps me build software that respects users rather than exploiting them.

02
Reading gives me the context
My bookshelf (mostly history, political science, and cognitive science) reminds me that every piece of code exists within a complex human system.

Building gives me the output
Software is how I materialize these ideas. It's how I take abstract concepts—like making legislation transparent with CivicSync PH—and turn them into tangible tools.

03 · what
A decade of untangling systems
I've spent the last ten years figuring out how things work, and more importantly, how they break.
Current
Principal Consultant at Thunder, building complex Salesforce solutions and integrations for institutions, and part-time in-house architect and developer at Baker Group.
The foundation
8+ years of frontend development, and a deep dive into mechatronics and embedded systems just to see how the hardware talks to the software.
The civic angle
From researching in the Philippine Senate to building open-source civic tech, I'm driven by how technology impacts public life.
04 · how I share
HelloJoal: notes from an information junkie
I've been teaching myself how to learn for as long as I can remember. HelloJoal is where I share what actually stuck: a working notebook for making sense of a noisy digital world.
You'll find ideas, complaints, and questions on building sustainable productivity, philosophy as seen from a distractible mind, and honest takes on the tech we build and use. No guru here, just someone taking notes out loud.
05 · off the clock
When the screens are off
You'll find me tinkering with 3D printers, testing out new fountain pen inks on Midori paper, or clearing my head with martial arts and swimming laps. Otherwise I'm probably cooking, lifting weights, or reading.
